Mary Rachael Randles-Hromidko, 69, of Swisher, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021, surrounded by the love of her three children. A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 3:30p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a time for sharing and reflection starting at 6:00 p.m. for close family and friends. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are in charge of arrangements.
Rachael was born December 26, 1951, in New Ulm, Minnesota, the daughter of Bruno and Suzanne (Orth) Randles. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, followed by Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. Rachael was united in marriage to Dennis on January 29, 1972, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She retired from the Department of Corrections for the State of Iowa after twenty-five years of service. Rachael was a proud sister of nine siblings and prided herself in being the matriarchs of all family history, life events and activities. Family time was the most important thing in her life.
Rachael is survived by her children: Heidi (Chad Brezina), Christine (Adam Nehre) and Michael (Cara); eight grandchildren; Kayla, Becca, Kali, Clayton, Drake, Tricia, Grace and Oakliey. Her siblings, Dave (Jean) in Seattle, Washington, Joe (Steve Makowski) in New Hope, Pennsylvania, Vince (Maria) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mark (Helen) in Pueblo, Colorado, Peter (Barb) in Fulshear, Texas, Bill (Kris) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Paul (Sylvia), John in Cedar Rapids and Julia (Craig) Kulish in Center Point, Iowa, as well as many extended Hromidko in-laws as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dennis.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Mercy as well as the Swisher community for their care, support, and kindness.
Memorials will be dedicated to a community project in Rachael's name and can be mailed to: c/o of Heidi Hromidko at PO Box 56, Swisher, Iowa 52338.
