"Vi" Violet (Shadid) Murphy,
90
, of
Vi was born July 14, 1920 in
Elizabeth (Solomon) Shadid. She married Thomas F. Murphy on November 15,
1943 in
the Business and Professional Women's Club, Altrusa, Cedar Rapids Women's
Golf Association, USBC, National Bowling Association, and
Bowling. She was a lifetime member of St. George Orthodox Church. Vi
enjoyed golf and bowling and was an active Hawkeye and Cubs fan. In
addition, she loved going to
Vi is survived by her daughter Chris Murphy of
Dennis R. (Kay) Murphy of Bettendorf; grandchildren Laura (Jeff)
Kaufman, Tom (Kate) Murphy, Lisa Murphy, Don (Jennifer) Murphy, and
Michele Bellamy; great-grandsons Jack Murphy, Ryan Murphy, and Zane Kaufman;
great- granddaughters Rachel Murphy & Whitney Bellamy
,
and her sister Mary Shadid of
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tom; a daughter Teri
in 1986; and her brothers Frank Shadid and George Shadid.
Memorials may be directed to Taylor Elementary School Computer Lab and St.
George Orthodox Church.
