Paula Werz, 92 of Iowa City, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at her daughter's home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon with Fr. James Vrba presiding. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements. Paula was born September 27, 1919 in Untersulmetingen, Wurttemberg, Germany, the daughter of Georg and Kreszentia (Kaiser) Pflug. She married Alfons Werz on September 24, 1949 in New York City. Paula is survived by her daughter Dr. Mary Ann Werz of Iowa City, her nieces and nephews Richard Hoefling of Silver Spring, Maryland, George Hensinger of Norwalk, Connecticut, William Hensinger of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and Rose Werz of Long Beach, California, and over thirty additional in Germany. Paula is preceded in death by her husband Alfons, her husband Eugen Alber who died in World War II, three brothers Georg, Josef, and Wilhelm Pflug, two sisters Lena Miller and Maria Behmiller; thirteen brother and sisters in-laws and many of her friends.
