Patricia Ann Tinstman, 70, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away on Thursday October 17, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Pat was born on March 4, 1943 to George Edward Van Slyke and Mary Jean Kohl in Cedar Rapids, IA. Due to Pat's premature weight at birth, her Grandmother Helen Kohl raised her. She lived with her until she was 18 years old. Pat married in 1966 and had two daughters, Jeannette Ann and Margie Marie Tinstman of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pat was a loving and caring person to her special grandsons, Kyle, Kalvin, and Brandon TInstman, Chaseton Morgan and a great grandson, Caleb Morgan all of Cedar Rapids, IA In her passing she leaves behind many siblings, 7 sisters, Cynthia (Ed) Maher, Margaret (Larry) Bair, Randie Jones, Bonnie (Steve) Brodie, Diane (Robert) Drievold, Marscha Smith, Deborah Wright, and 2 brothers Edward and Dennis Van Slyke. Pat had a love of life, her favorite thing was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed Saturday movie day with Margie and the boys. The family gathered at Jeannette's home for the holidays, where they enjoyed good food, playing games, fun and laughter. Pat enjoyed all the family picnics throughout the summers. She had a good hand at crocheting; making many blankets that covered her family with love. The lessons learned and memories made will be forever engrained in our hearts. Her father, George Van Slyke, her mother Mary (Kohl) and her sister Sharon Van Slyke preceded Pat in death. A celebration of life will be held at the Kirkwood Estates Community Room at 615 Miller Ave Dr SW Cedar Rapids, IA starting at 11 a.m. There will be a small memorial service lead by Douglas Batey followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
