Patricia Diane (Dufault) Askelson, 71, of Marion, died peacefully Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids, where there will be a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service.

Patricia was born May 9, 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of William and Eva (Kordahl) Dufault.  She attended Grand Forks and Egan schools and was an active cheerleader and elected the Homecoming Queen. She graduated in 1965 in Egan, South Dakota.  In 1966, Patricia married Dave Chamberlin in Worthington, Minnesota.  To this union one child was born, Darin. She continued her education at Stewart Hairstyling College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She then moved to Iowa City, Iowa and worked at Oral B for 13 years. She married James Askelson who had two sons, Ron and Micha. To this union they were blessed with a son Jon. Together they raised four boys, living in Iowa City, Iowa, Circleville, Ohio, Bowling Green, Circleville, Ohio, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Lexington, Kentucky and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked as a receptionist for medical facilities and Doctor's Offices including her favorite job with Mercy Care Systems in Cedar Rapids.  Pat and her friend Joyce (who was like a sister) enjoyed their retirement. Together they participated in many things like traveling, hanging out, watching the Irish Tenors, attending monthly Birthday Club dinners and many other adventures.

Patricia is survived by her sons, Darin Chamberlin of Cedar Rapids and his children Cody and Eve; Ron (Tami) Askelson of Auburn, Alabama and their children, James, Peyton, and Brennan; Micha (Karen) Askelson of Indianapolis, Indiana and their children Josh, Henry and Cooper; and Jon (Shannon) Askelson of Zionsville, Indiana and their children Kaleb and Charlie. She is also survived by one brother Dennis (Tonya) Dufault of Sioux City and their daughter Danielle. For many years Pat and Jim also helped raise their niece and nephew, Amy (Askelson) Parks of Madison County, Kentucky and Matt Askelson, of Parchment, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Dufault, brother Jon Dufault, nephew Chad Dufault and Buffy, her beloved Shih-tzu, and only girl around a house of all boys.
