Oral "Milt" Milton Hunt, 86, of Solon passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Solon Care Center.  Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Solon United Methodist Church, with Reverend Dennis Tevis presiding.  Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 South Street.  Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the service, Tuesday at the church.  Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  Brosh Chapel in Solon is assisting with Milt's services.

Milt was born on February 19, 1930 on a farm near Bronson, Iowa.  He was united in marriage to Josephine Briar on June 12, 1955.  Milt served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was employed by the Iowa Conservation Commission (later the Department of Natural Resources) beginning at Lake Ahquabi from 1949 through 1956, then as a park officer at Red Haw Lake State Park, and Clear Lake State Park from 1956 through 1964, then as manager of the Central Shop at Lake Macbride until his retirement in 2006.  Milt was a true craftsman, building furniture and doing upholstery work for many friends and family.  He was active in the Solon United Methodist Church.

Milt is survived by his wife, Jo; his children Jan (Ray) Harris of Blue Springs, Missouri and Allan (Mary) Hunt of Solon.  He is also survived by granddaughters Christine Harris of Blue Springs and Stephanie (Cody) Whitfill of Grain Valley, Missouri as well as great-grandson Collin Whitfill; sister Marian Dooley of Indianola, sister-in-law, Carol Hunt of

West Hartford, Connecticut and numerous nieces and nephews.

Milt was preceded in death by his parents, John Oral and Ethel (Lindsay) Hunt, and his brother, John C. Hunt.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Solon United Methodist Church or the Solon Veterans Memorial.
