Norma Gibson of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on August 28, 2010, following a long illness.
There will be two visitations, one in Kansas City, Missouri, scheduled August 31

The other visitation will be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, September 2

Survivors include husband of 44 years, Olen E. Gibson of Blue Springs, Missouri, sons Mitchell D. Gibson of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Olen L. (Tamera) Gibson of Miramar, Florida. Grandchildren Brianna and Ty Gibson of Miramar, Florida, brother Bobbie (Ruth) Brewster, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, aunt Anna Mae Ray of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, brother and sister-in-law James and Paulette Clark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sister-in-law Delores Davis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and brother-in-law Landy Waller III, of Phoenix, Arizona, brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Delores Becicka of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Minnie Brewster, and brother Joe Brewster of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Norma was born on September 22, 1944, in Somerville, Tennessee. She married Olen Gibson, on August 20, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Olen is also a native of Cedar Rapids Iowa.
She graduated from Washington High School, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1962, and she attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. Norma was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri, prior to her illness.
Norma enjoyed reading, decorating her home, and had a passion for gardening. The family would like to acknowledge Norma's special friends, Marilyn Getz, with whom Norma enjoyed going to the movies, sharing recipes and social events.
The family also wants to thank another special friend, Carol Houck. Norma also liked spending hours on the phone talking with her many friends.
Norma was especially proud of her family and loved her grandchildren. She had a big heart for her two dogs, Joy and Max, who could do no wrong.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Norma Gibson, to the American Cancer Society.
