Nickolas
Stadler
July 5, 2017
Nickolas "Nick" George Stadler passed from this life at Unity Point Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at age 63. Nick had been diagnosed with cancer about two and a half years ago. Throughout his illness he maintained a positive attitude and didn't leave us without a good fight. Even a few days before departing, he was planning to go fishing with a friend.
Nick was raised in Ely, Iowa, the son of George and Myrtle (Hanson) Stadler. While at Prairie High School he formed a close alliance with a small group of other students which has continued through today. With his passing, he leaves behind these dear and close friends with whom many memories had been made.
Although often opinionated, Nick was a kind individual who loved fishing, photography, cooking, and gaming with friends. He loved nature and animals which is evident throughout his photo library. He had a gift when it came to starting plants from seed and was quick to share them with others as well as the fruits of harvest. He enjoyed trying to attract good insects with butterfly bushes. Flowers such as elephant ears, calla lilies and cannas were very special to him and they flourished in his care.
In his younger years, Nick had a variety of jobs, but for over 30 years was the crew leader at Dyna-Vac of Cedar Rapids, Inc. retiring in 2015.
Preceding Nick in death were his parents; sister & brother-in-law, Virginia & Leroy "Duke" Dusil; nephew, David Dusil; and two brother-in-laws, Daniel "Dan" McCune & Richard "Dick" Schilling.
He is survived by sisters: Georgia Schilling and Linda (Larry) Prachar; one niece; Deb (John) Hird and daughters of Joplin, Missouri; five nephews; Alan Dusil and daughter of Norway Iowa, Tim Prachar of Menlo Park, California, Jeff (Jan) Prachar and sons of Bothell, Washington, Steve (Julie) Prachar of Johnston, Iowa and sons, Mike (Lara) Prachar and children of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also surviving besides many good friends are his three constant companions Tony, Roman and Miss Kitty, his furry friends. They already seem to be missing him and are now in need of a good new home.
His family would like to thank the staff at PCI who took care of him during his illness; from his regular appointments through the chemotherapy sessions. Nick found them to be very caring, yet professional and was appreciative. He looked upon them as new found friends.
Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Light refreshments to be served in The Avacentre. A Private family burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mt, Vernon Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 5403 or Cedar Bend Humane Society (where Roman came from), 1166 W Airline Hwy, Waterloo, Iowa 50703.
