Nathan Thomas Miller, 31, gave such a courageous and positive fight in the last 1 ½ years with MS. He was loved by all and blessed so many lives. On June 25 ^th , he walked to his heavenly home. Family and friends may attend a celebration and remembrance of Nathan's life Monday, June 30 from 5-8 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene. Service by Pastor Tim Carter at 6.  Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include: his parents, Rachel & Doyle Pettit, daughter, Melodi, sister Veria (Brad) Gearheart, brothers Travis (Pam) Pettit and Gabe Slaymaker, aunt Rose Slaymaker (Tim Nemec), 8 nieces and nephews along with special friends Denise Bassett, Arlene & Pappy Phillips and Mada and Dave Jones.

Nathan was born in Iowa City September 29, 1976. He had a special love for children and all the people he crossed paths with. Listening to music, sitting on the front porch, dreaming of watching whales and finding mushrooms in the spring gave him great joy. His smile and laugh was special and he will be greatly missed.

The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff of Mercy Hospice who made a positive impact on the quality of life in Nathan's final months.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
