Nancy Jo Ward, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. As per Nancy’s wishes no services will be held at this time. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family at this time.

Nancy was born on August 19, 1956, in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Dale and Darlene (Cherveny) Mikoda. She graduated from Benton Community Schools, class of 1974. Nancy married William “Bill” Ward on June 25, 2005, in Cedar Rapids. Nancy showed and trained horses for over 30 years. She and her dad raised, showed quarter horses, known as “County Line Quarter Horses”, near Elberon. Along with horses Nancy enjoyed playing poker, cleaning cars, arm wrestling, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of twenty-one years, Bill Ward; her step-children Chris Ward, and Keri Ward; step-grandchild Mishayla Ward; sister Kerry (Mark) Kucera; nephew JD (Kristen) Kucera; her longtime friend Diane (Jim) Goforth, special cousin Beth Cherveny, others cousins, her dog Libby, and cats Tot, Tommy and Jerry.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dennis Mikoda.
