Myrtle (Peg) M. Johnston, 99 of Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center. As per Myrtle's wishes, her body was donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for scientific research. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Myrtle was born September 4, 1908 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Shedeck McIntosh. She was an avid antiquer and enjoyed collecting and selling Havilland China. Myrtle retired from Cargill. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.
Myrtle is survived by her granddaughter, Juile Vanderseer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Douglas in September of 2007; and her sister Millie Butler.
