Millie Courtney age 90, of Clear Lake, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at
Hospice Care Center in Mason City, IA. Graveside services will be held at
1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon, with
a gathering for family and friends to follow at the home of Jim and Julie
Hendricks, 480 Green Ridge Road, Lisbon. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Millie was born on July 29, 1917, the daughter of William and
Henrietta Butteris in Sheffield. She married William Courtney July 16,
1955 and lived in Reno, Nevada until 1983 when they moved to the Bitter Root
Valley in Montana. In 1993 they moved to Clear Lake.
Millie enjoyed baking, cooking, family gatherings, playing cards with family
& friends, and playing the slot machines.
Surviving are her husband Bill of Clear Lake, a daughter Jackie Wells
and her husband Cliff of Reno, Nevada; daughter Terry Biggs and her husband Bill
from Clinton, Utah; daughter Judy Gorden and her husband Lew from Lucas; a
son Michael Courtney of Anamosa; son Pat Courtney and wife Linda of
Cedar Rapids; a sister Betty Becker of Clear Lake; 9 grandchildren;
7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Millie was preceded in
death by her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
