Michele Meyer, 58 of Ely, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Michele was born May 30, 1956 in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Louis and Norma (White) Gross. She married Steven Russell Meyer on April 27, 1974 in Jefferson. Michele worked for many years at Verizon in Cedar Rapids. Michele is survived by a son, Damon Meyer; a daughter, Kara (Marc) Leonard; four grandchildren Laurdyn Meyer and Braylon Meyer, and Avery Leonard and Beau Leonard; her siblings Deb Layland (Bruce Christensen), Veronica (Dave) Clipperton, Diana (Jeff) Herring, Patty (Jeff) Prouty, Becky (Garry) Kalitzki, Linda (Jerry) Wolterman, Jim (Audra) Gross, Dan (Tonya) Gross and Mike (Amanda) Gross; two sister-in-laws, Carol (Sam) Fengel and Pat (Dave) Luther; three brother-in-laws, Michael (Joanne) Meyer, Brian Meyer, and Robert (Mary) Meyer; as well as many nieces and nephews. Michele was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Meyer and her parents. Memorials may be directed to family.
