Michael "Mike" Allen Englert, 62 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, September 24, 2017. As per Mike's wishes he chose to be cremated and a Memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. A Celebration of life will be at a later date.
Michael was born July 8, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Joyce (Bohr) Englert. He graduated with honors from Lisbon High School. He received a degree in computer programming from Kirkwood. Mike worked at Land O'Lakes, Source Data, and Ruffalo Noel Levitz. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching the Bears, White Sox and the Hawkeyes.
The man. The myth. The legend. Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him. Michael Allen Englert passed away on September 24, 2017. Mike loved to tell stories. You could be sure 50% of every story was true, you just never knew which 50%. He was a hero to 3 children, Eden, Evan and Elissa, 1 pup child, Duke and 4 grandpuppies, Bowser, Zelda, Moose and Freya. He was a fantastic golfer and knew how to hit the ball right into the rough, and exactly which part of the tree to run into with the golf cart, making sure he could make it back to the clubhouse with all 3 wheels.
He was a lover of life, Jimmy Buffet, the Chicago Bears and corny dad jokes.
Mike is survived by his mother Joyce Englert of Lisbon; children Eden Englert of Des Moines, Evan Englert and Elissa Englert both of Cedar Rapids; his grandpuppies; his siblings Douglas (Kelly) Englert and Tamara Englert; and his nephews Cullyn, Calvin and Cale.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
