Michael James Aucutt, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Mercy One Genesis in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. George Antiochian Church, located at 3650 Cottage Grove Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, at St. George. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.

Michael was born on June 24, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Ruth (Pospisil) Aucutt. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, class of 1975, following he served in the United States Navy, as an E4 Med Tech. He earned a degree in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Art History from Mount Mercy College. Mike was married to Cheryl Koury on June 9, 1990, at St. George Antiochian Church. He worked at GE Water and Process, as a research microbiologist, consultant, conducted research, where he earned three patents. Mike enjoyed building models, painting, playing guitar, role playing, Western reenactments, and most of all spending time with his family. He was active in his church and was known for being “Santa” each year.

Mike is survived by his daughter Sarah Aucutt; his brothers Bob (Marilyn) Aucutt and Daniel (Elizabeth) Aucutt; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Cheryl; his parents; and his son Jacob Aucutt.
