Mayme Cechura, 101, passed away on September 7, 2017 at Heritage Specialty Care.  Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Hala Cemetery near Walford.  Visitation will be from 1p.m. until 2p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel.

Mayme was born April 9, 1916 in Norway, the daughter of William and Anna (Haeger) Kopf.  She married Edward Cechura on November 28, 1940.  Mayme was a dedicated wife, mother to Mary Ann, and caregiver to many.  She loved cooking, baking kolaches and apple pies, entertaining guests for dinner, playing cards, going to bingo and spending time with her family and friends.  Mayme was a kind and gentle lady who was a joy to be around.

Mayme is survived by her sisters Alice (Bill) Barker of Cedar Rapids and Anna Binley of Cedar Falls; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Mayme was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Mary Ann, who died November 19, 2008, and her siblings.

Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous in her name.
