Mayme M. Cambridge, 87, of Republic, Missouri formerly of Solon died Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Christian Health Care Center in Republic, Missouri after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 8, 2005 at Brosh Chapel, Solon with Father David Wilkening, officiating.  Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, rural Solon.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at Brosh Chapel, Solon.
Mayme was born in Solon, Iowa on March 24, 1918.  She was the daughter and youngest child of the late Emanuel B. and Mary (Krob) Rushek.  She was a graduate of Solon High School Class of 1936.  She married Arthur B. Cambridge on December 16, 1942 in Camp Pickett, Virginia.  During World War II, Mayme worked as group leader for Collins Radio.  Later she worked for Killian's Department Store in Cedar Rapids and was co-owner of Princess Steakhouse & Lounge in Pochontas, Iowa from 1975 to 1987.  Mayme was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, and 3 rd Armored Division.  She was also a long time member of the Elks Club.  She was a wife, mother, and homemaker for 63 years.  She was a resident of Kimberling City, Missouri for the past 13 years.  Mayme was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.  She led a life of dignity and courage.  She lived life to it's fullest everyday and only looked for the positive in everyone and everything.  She was adored by all who were blessed by knowing and loving her.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years Arthur B. Cambridge of Republic, Missouri; two sons, Arthur E. of Republic, Missouri, and James C. of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Marcia Davis, Christine Beckel, and Jennifer Hazelrigg all of Springfield, Missouri, Keeley Cambridge of Denver, Colorado, Jeffrey Garthoff of Kansas City, Kansas, and Melissa Sassi of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Beckel, Jeremy Davis, Andrew and Alexis Hazelrigg all of Springfield, Missouri, Zachary and Kelsea Garthoff of Kansas City, Kansas, and Zahra and Zahran Sassi of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In addition a brother-in-law Charles Sonka of Solon, and three nephews Thomas Sonka of Cedar Rapids, Samuel Sonka of Lexington, Kentucky, and Steve Sonka of Cherokee, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Elmer Rushek, and a sister Velma Sonka.
A memorial fund has been established for the Christian Health Care Center in Republic, Missouri.
