Maxwell LeRoy Netolicky, 91 of rural Solon died Sunday, July 3 peacefully on his farm. It was Max's wishes not have any services at this time. Services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.

Max was born June 1, 1914 in Solon, the son of Dr. Joseph and Florence Devine Netolicky. Max was a graduate of Solon High School . As a child Max attended the Solon United Methodist Church. Max often reminisced about driving the horse and buggy for his father, Dr. Joseph, to visit area patients. He married Marcella Suchomel, November 3, 1948 at St. Bridget's Church, Nolan Settlement. Max was a truck driver for Pete Randall, hauling livestock. He worked for many years as a bartender for Monk Meyers in Solon. He and Marcella farmed in the Cedar Bluff area for over 50 years. During this time he also raised and sold feeder pigs at the Kalona Salesbarn.

Max served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He served in the 68 th Bomb Squadron based in . He earned the rank of Corporal and also was awarded 9 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Solon American Legion Post #460.

He is survived by his wife Marcella; two sons, John (Kimberly) and Joseph (Linda) all of Solon; two daughters, Jane (Richard) Pike of Cedar Rapids, and Mary Jo (David) Meggers of Solon; seven grandchildren, Theresa (Doug) Hill, Scott (Catherine) Wall, Cara (Eric) Paulsen, Miranda Meggers, Max Meggers, Kimberly Pike, Daniel Meggers; four greatgrandchildren, Danielle Dady, Wyatt and Nathan Hill, Bailey Wall; three stepgrandchildren, Brad and Travis Pike, Leslie Hunter. Max's surviving nephew and nieces are James Robert (Carly) Netolicky, JoAnn (Howard) Mottet, Sandra Wray, Donna Lee (William) Murphy and their families. He is also survived by a cousin Bob Devine of Minnesota .

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Marcella Wray; brothers James, Donald and Stanley Netolicky; and a nephew Dick Wray.
