Maxine P. Spores, 82 of Cedar Rapids died Monday, January 24, 2011 at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery . Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids .

Maxine was born April 5, 1928 in Bertram, the daughter of Earl and Hazel (Waddington) White. She married Harold Spores Sr. on May 26, 1945 in Cedar Rapids . Maxine was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church for many years.

Maxine is survived by her children, Arlene (Thomas) Barrow of Cedar Rapids, Myra (Eugene) Barrette of Hiawatha, Harold (Karol) Spores Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Debbie) Spores of Cedar Rapids, Stanley Spores of Anamosa, John (Sheryl) Spores of Olin, and Bill Spores of Des Moines; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister in law Frances White of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on February 4, 2006; brothers, Arthur White, Dick White and Paul White; sisters, Elaine Dwyer, Helen Huggins, Carol Bartosh, and Ruth Burnell; two grandchildren BJ Spores III and Christian Spores; and a son in law Tom Barrow.

A memorial fund has been established for Mercy Hospice and Camp Courageous .
