Mauricio Christopher Barrios, 15, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 6, 2021.  Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Brosh Chapel.

Mauricio was born April 15, 2006, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Pedro and Tia (Soper) Barrios.  He was going into his sophomore year at Cedar Rapids Washington.  Mauricio was a very kind, funny, intelligent and selfless young man, who enjoyed reading, talking about sports, playing video games with his friends and cousins.  He was a very good brother who loved spending time with his family.

Mauricio is survived by his mother Tia Barrios; father Pedro Barrios; his siblings Emilio Barrios and Leylani Aviles and Anabelle Stiers; grandparents Lorena (Mark) Moes; Silvia Sanchez, Arturo Barrios, and William (Connie) Soper; his aunts and uncles Edgar, Christian (Jessica) Barrios, Karina and Ariel (Carolina) Barrios, Melissa, Brianna and Brandon Soper, Clint and Clayton Moes; as well as many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his uncle Joseph Soper.
