Matrell Michael Eu'Gene Johnson, 18, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 18, 2019.  Homegoing Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Gospel Tabernacle Church, located at 2531 42 ^nd Street NE.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.

Matrell was born on June 11, 2000 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Michael Gene Hodges Sr. (Shanna Hodges) and Angela Denise Johnson (Charles Ratcliff).  He graduated from Cedar Rapids Metro High School on January 17, 2019.  He enjoyed playing basketball, playing Xbox, as well as spending quality time with his friends and family, especially his siblings.

Matrell is survived by his parents; his siblings Michael Jr. and Malon Hodges, Malique Johnson, Malaisha Hodges, Charleigh and Kemma Ratcliff, Kierra Thomas, and Jurnee Rose-Johnson all of Cedar Rapids; A special cousin Aaryon Johnson of Cedar Rapids; his grandparents Elizabeth Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Leon Grafton of Mobile, Alabama and Dr. Karen White of Chicago, Illinois; his aunts and uncles; as well as host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Florence and Willie B. Hodges and special cousin Christian Marquise Cungtion.
