Mary B. Yanecek, 81, of Walford, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St.Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, 125 5th Street North, Walford. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family. Mary was born March 25, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Glen and Margaret (Forrester) Gooden. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids in 1948. Mary married Arnold Yanecek on November 21, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. She worked at the Ox Yoke Inn, Ponderosa Ballroom, as well as working alongside Arnold on the family farm. She enjoyed antiquing, attending sporting events, garage sales, and mostly the time spent with her family, especially the grandkids. She was a past 4-H leader, a member of the Fairfax Eastern Star, and also a long time member of Clover Ridge United Methodist Church. Mary is survived by her husband Arnold J. Yanecek; her children James (Kay) Yanecek of West Branch, Ruth (Daniel) Becker of Williamsburg, David (Jan) Yanecek of North Liberty and Douglas (Shelly) Yanecek of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren Bradley (Stephanie) Yanecek, Jill (James) Steffes, Jason ( Amy) Becker, Keith (Rachel) Becker, Jeff Yanecek, Emily (Rob) Tomich, Katilyn Yanecek, and Drew Yanecek; eight great-grandchildren Jaida, Jalila, Vivien, Griffin, Channing, Owen, Reid, and Landen; a sister Kathy (Dale) Hein of Tipton; a brother Richard Gooden of Cedar Rapids; a brother and sister-in-law Merle and Myrtle Yanecek, and Bob Bartlett all of Cedar Rapids. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Margaret Gooden, two sisters JoAnn Bartlett and Carolyn Gooden, two granddaughters, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Anna Yanecek. Memorials may be directed to either Clover Ridge United Methodist or to the American Heart Association.
