Mary J. Stramel McLain Kopecky, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died April 10, 2011, at Heritage Care Center following a long illness. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Fr. Chris Podhajsky presiding. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements. Mary was born on February 12, 1918 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John J. and Elizabeth Stramel. Mary is survived by a son, Ron McLain (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, three grandchildren, Judy McLain of Cedar Rapids, Scott McLain of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Matt Paul of Des Moines, and a brother, Lou (LaVaun) Stramel of Cedar Rapids. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Mary worked as a supervisor for ten years at IOA Foods and Packaging in Cedar Rapids, and was then co-owner/operator of the Ideal Cafe and Arrow Printing of Cedar Rapids. The family would like to give thanks to the friends and caregivers who were supportive during Mary's illness.
