Mary Lou Kindler, 80, of Solon, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Iowa City Rehab.  Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar Street.  Private family inurnment will be a later date.

Mary Lou was born September 30, 1938 in Cedar County, Snaggy Ridge area Rochester, south of Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rosa (Hoy) Benesh.  In 1962, she married Oscar Kindler, had two children; the marriage ended in divorce.  In 1970, she re-married Richard M. Kindler, had two children; the marriage ended in divorce.  Mary Lou spent her life on the small family farm, gardening, canning and baking breads.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, John Kindler, daughter Geraldine (Gerry) Kindler, son Richard L. Kindler all of Solon, and daughter Brenda Bartling (David Miron) of Michigan; ex-son-in-law Donald Bartling of Solon, ex-step-granddaughter Summer (Brandon) Bartling-Richards of Michigan; grandson Justin Bartling of Solon; granddaughter Teah Bartling of North Liberty; her sister Helen Rupe of Swisher; former sisters-in-law Margaret Ball and Lillian Luettegens; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her step-grandson Donald Bartling Jr., her parents, George and Rosa Benesh, her brother Elme Lee Benesh, former sister-in-law Dorothy Olsen, as well as her cousins and nephews.
