Mary Sharlene Flack, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.
Mary was born on October 7, 1949, in Rock Island, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Carr) Barton. She was united in marriage to Dr. Doug Valentine in February of 1968, and they were later divorced. Mary married Michael Flack in December 1973. She worked at Quaker Oats from 1975-1976, until a work injury. She then started working for Cedar Rapids Janitorial in 1980, cleaning residential homes, until opening her own cleaning business, Flack's Cleaning Service. This is a family owned and operated business, which began with her children and later incorporating her grandchildren, and is still in operation today. She has taken great pride in building a well-respected and successful business. Mary enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and loved being with her loving family.
Mary is survived by her husband Michael John Flack; her children Michelle (Shane) Kaiser, Tammy (John) O'Connor, Michael T. (Nancy) Flack, and John (Kara) Flack; her grandchildren Megan Valentine-O'Connor, Josh O'Connor, Ashley Steele, Tyler (Dan) Steele, Ashen (Kiersten) Rottink, Brenden (Maddie) Flack, Clayton, Dane, Gage, Legacy, Aly and Bentley Flack; her great-grandchildren Jayden and Jameson O'Connor and Jackson Rottink; her siblings Chuck (Heidi) Barton, Jerry (Becky) Barton and Rick (Hope) Barton; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
