Mary Lou Behning, 78, of North Liberty , formerly of Strawberry Point died from complications of cancer Sunday, July 10, 2005 .

Funeral Mass will be held at on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids with Father Tom McDermott, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery , Fairfax . Visitation will be from until on Wednesday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids where there will be a rosary service and a vigil service. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

She leaves to mourn two sons Allen and Laura Behning of Ventura Heights, Iowa, Darwin and Janet Behning of Cedar Rapids; daughters Darla Dubishar of Iowa City, Mary and Jeff Dostal of Swisher, and special daughter Donna Mininni; one brother Vince Dalen of Plattville, Wisconsin; and one brother-in-law Clay Brady of Edgewood; and one sister-in-law Evelyn Behning of St. Olaf. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Dawn Kimsey, Robert Behning, Becky Alexander, Brittney Hagmeier, Brian Behning, Matt Behning, Brock Dubishar, Ashley Dubishar, and Michael Dostal. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren Brea and Kayla Alexander, Dakota and Sierra Kimsey, Allanha Kessler, and Jenna Behning, Savannah and Kaleb Dubishar, Logan and Lauren Hagmeier; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, two sisters Donna Brady and Rita Adams, two brothers in law, Darrell Adams, and Francis Behning, one brother Robert Dalen and her parents.

Mary Lou was born February 5, 1927 in Manchester to Geneveive and LaVern Dalen. She married Darrell Behning on December 10, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. She graduated from Strawberry Point High school in 1945. In 1986 she retired from Collins after 22 years, then she worked at Toys R Us retiring in 2003.

Mom had an enormous passion for life. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, the Iowa Hawkeyes and social activities with her friends and family. Mom was our glue and will be greatly missed.
