Marjorie A. Cernin, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit, Unity Point, St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place following at Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the chapel.

Marjorie was born November 28, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Matthew and Helen (Jandl) Lorenc. She married John Cernin on February 9, 1952 in Cedar Rapids.  Marjorie enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and traveling. She was a member of the Eagle's, Elk's, VFW, WFLA Lodge 262, and attended Olivet Presbyterian Church.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Sherry (Terrence) Schaddel of Springfield, IL; grandson Michael Schaddel; sister Dorothy (William) Ackermann of Amana; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Willard Cernin.

Memorials may be directed to Olivet Neighborhood Mission, 230 10th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, 52405, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, or to the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit, Unity Point, St. Luke's Hospital.
