Marion Jay Wolfe (Jay Bird), 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer while surrounded by family. He was born on May 6, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Marion J. Wolfe and Lois Thurston Wolfe.

Jay graduated from Oelwein High School in 1961 and went on to work as a boilermaker, a profession he dedicated himself to throughout his career. He was known as a good and honest man whose strength, integrity, and work ethic left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Marion married Christine A. House on June 4, 1992, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they built a life rooted in family and friendship. He is survived by his wife, Christine Wolfe; sons Toby (Lillian) Wolfe, Brendon( Eileen) Wolfe, Logan Wolfe, Jared Wolfe, Justin Wolfe; daughter Carissa Wolfe; grandchildren Andrew Wolfe, LeNaisha Wolfe, Remieca Wade, Brandon Jones, Tyler and Isabel Wolfe, McKenzie and Zach Vogt, Logan Wolfe; one great grandson; and two great granddaughters. Also surviving Jay are his nieces Karen Mochal and Kathi Nelsen; nephew Gary Brose; and his faithful companion Finnegan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marion Jasper Wolfe and Lois Thurston Wolfe; his sister Marilyn Jo Brose; and nephew Larry Taylor.

Per Jay’s wishes, there will be no services. He will be buried at Alice Cemetery, Alice, Iowa.
