Marilyn Joyce Primrose Frimml, 95, of Lisbon, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway, Iowa.
Marilyn was born March 16, 1928, in Iowa City. She was raised by her grandmother, Dina Primrose, in Norway. She graduated from Norway High School, class of 1945. Marilyn was united in marriage to Donald Frimml on September 21, 1947, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1953. She was an active member of St. Ludmila and worked in the school cafeteria for over 33 years, retiring in 1996. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery, baking cookies, and watching birds. She sent many greeting cards as part of her ministry to family, friends and parishioners to lift their spirits.
Marilyn is survived by her children Tom (Kris) Frimml and Donalyn (Dennis) Zvacek; grandchildren Amy Zvacek and Don (Lindsey) Zvacek; step-grandchildren Ryan (Aaron) Moe and Cody (Sarah) Schiffer; three great-grandchildren Reed, Noelle and Josephine; six step-great-grandchildren Truett, Sutton, Parker, Cora, Maelie and Elle; special cousin Harriet Pickart; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, her husband Donald, aunts, uncles, and special cousin Betty Hanson.
Memorials may be directed to Notre Dame Sisters of Omaha or St. Ludmila Catholic Church in her name.
The family would like to extend a thank you to staff at Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon, and Hospice of Mercy, for their loving care of Marilyn.
