Marilyn Lois Cech, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Lukes Hospital. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery near Swisher.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel.

Marilyn was born November 3, 1931 in North English, the daughter of Lynn and Mary (Heald) Turnipseed.   She graduated from Cedar Rapids McKinley High School, class of 1949.  Marilyn was united in marriage to Elmer Cech on April 24, 1950.  She worked in the Business Office at College Community Schools from 1962-1996.

Marilyn is survived by her children Randy (Nancy) Cech of Altoona, Jackie (John) Newman of Mt. Vernon and Justine (Keith) Schulte of Ely; grandchildren T.J. (Jerica Deitrick) Wilson, Corey (Dee) Cech, Jody Kintzel, Erin (Willie) Swanson, Tracey Cech (Andrew Peacock), Andrew Newman, John (Katie) Newman Jr., Lizi (Jeff) Ehman; nine great-grandchildren Javan, Chloe, L.J., Hallie, Hannah, Kaylee, Kyle, Kadie and Emily; her brothers Lynn (Kathy) Turnipseed and Arthur (Mary) Turnipseed; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Elmer.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the Alzheimers Association or the Czech Museum in her name.
