Marie Martha Stepanek, 92, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ely, died Saturday, December 8, 2018.  Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids by Pastors Jim Fields and Rick Gail.  Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids.

Marie was born September 9, 1926 in Ely, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kracthovil) Moses.  Marie graduated from Ely High School, and Cedar Rapids Business College.  She married Louis J. Stepanek on January 10, 1950 in Cedar Rapids.  Marie worked as the Food Service Manager at St. Ludmila School. Marie was always proud of being a charter member of The ARC.

Marie is survived by her husband Louis; children, Mary (James) Fields of Largo, Florida, William (Barb) Stepanek of Largo, Florida, Thomas (Sheila) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids, and Kathleen (Mark) Banowetz of Ely; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bernard in 2000, and brother, Joseph Moses.

Marie has gone to be with her Downs Syndrome son Bernie and Jesus. Her lifetime example of caring for others, excelling as a mother, and being a good citizen in her faith has always been appreciated by all those who knew her.

Marie's family cannot say enough about the personal loving care she received at Hiawatha Care Center during the many years she was in their care. Thank you and bless you all!
