Marie Frances Bistricky, 98 of Swisher, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center.  Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  Burial will follow in Blain Cemetery rural Swisher.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel.

Marie was born July 18, 1908 in Johnson County, the daughter of Louis and Frances Drahos Raim.  She married William J. Bistricky on May 14, 1941.    She worked for Baker Dime Store before she and Bill moved to California to work for the Government in an airplane plant.  She had numerous odd jobs for over ten years in California before returning to live with her folks in Swisher.  She worked for the Sorghum Plant and also worked on the farm.  She loved chickens, pigs and milking the cows.  Marie was known for her cooking and baking, especially pies.  She was always happy to meet and talk with people.  She spent time volunteering at the Swisher Legion and playing cards with friends at the Senior Center in Ely.  She loved gardening and flowers.

Marie is survived by her sister Emily (Allan) Vanourny of Fairfax.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Bill who died December 2, 1988; her sisters Albia Raim and Mary Bistricky; brothers William, Louis, Jerry, and Lester Raim.

Memorials may be directed to the Swisher American Legion or the Shueyville United Methodist Church.
