Marcia M. Conrad, 62, of Shueyville, passed Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in her home.
It is Marcia's wish that there be no services. She requested an informal gathering of her friends and family to remember her life and good times. This gathering will be held January 31st, from
1-3 p.m.
at Brosh Chapel and Community Center in Solon, located at
100 South Cedar Street
.
Marcia was born in Anamosa,
May 1, 1946
. She lived part of her early years in Alburnett with her mother Joyce and grandparents LeRoy and
Lena
Skeels. When her mother married Glenn Chrystal, she moved to the farm near
Manchester
.
Growing up, Marcia was in 4-H, band, chorus, etc. One year she was honored to be selected as Dairy Princess for
Delaware
County
. She graduated from
West
Delaware
High School
and then from the
University
of
Northern Iowa
.
She married Mahlon (Mal) Conrad in 1968. Together they have a son, Luke.
She began her career as an Educational Media Specialist in
Wellsburg
,
IA
, then to Elk Run Elementary, and retired from the Cedar Rapids Community Schools finishing her career at
McKinley
Middle School
.
She enjoyed traveling with Luke and Mal around the
USA
and
Canada
. In the '70s, the Cedar-4-Wheelers were a big part of her life. During the last part of her life, she enjoyed the get-to-gethers with Card Club and selling what ever she could on EBay.
A memorial fund has been established in her name at
