Marcella Louise (Johnson) Larson, of Norway died Sunday, February 26, 2006 at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids where she had been lovingly cared for the past 6 years.  Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, Iowa at 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 2, 2006 with her friend and pastor the Rev. David Mosher officiating.  Burial will be at the Norway Cemetery at a later date.  Friends may call from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at Trinity on Thursday.  Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters Lois Pavelka, rural Mt. Vernon, Shirryl Hughes of St. Croix the Virgin Islands and Diane Schulte of Cedar Rapids.  She is also survived by Lois' daughters Ann Bright and her husband Doug of Cedar Rapids and Sarah Pavelka of Pella, Shirryl's daughter Kara Salgado and her husband Henry and their son Cole of Chicago, and Diane's daughter Marci Forrest and her daughters Eady and Samantha of Cedar Rapids and their father John Forrest of rural Watkins. Other surviving family members include her sisters-in-law Annalou Johnson and Nadine Larson of Cedar Rapids and LaVerne Larson Taylor and her husband Don of Clinton.
Marcella was preceded in death by many family members and friends including her husband Woodrow who died shortly after their 61 st wedding anniversary in October 1999, their son Don, son-in-law Dwayne Pavelka, her sister Gladys Strickle and brothers Stanley, Blaine and Leo Johnson.
Marcella was born March 13, 1915 near Newhall to Norwegian immigrants Lewis and Marie Johnson where she attended school and graduated from Newhall High School in 1932. Marcella and Woodrow were married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on August 14 th , 1938.  As her strength and eye sight failed, she held fast to her faith.  II Corinthians 5:7 'for we walk by faith, not by sight'.  She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Norway/Walford where many of her friends honor her memory.  In lieu of flowers friends may, if they wish direct memorials to Trinity's building fund.
