Lyle Patrick "Pat" Davidson, 64 of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. John XXIII Parish, with Fr. Dustin Vu presiding. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, near Fairfax, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. parish vigil. As a tribute to Pat please feel free to wear camouflage at the visitation in his honor. Pat was born July 17, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Walter and Velma Grace (Worden) Davidson. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1968. Pat served in the United States Army from 1970-1971. He married Patricia Wroblewski on June 9, 1973 in Anamosa. Pat worked as a purchasing agent and sales representative for many years working at Cargill and Truck Country. Pat retired in April of 2007. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and everything outdoors. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Pat's greatest joy was attending the sporting events and activities of his beloved grandchildren. Pat was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in October of 2013. His strength and courage helped him through 12 rounds of chemotherapy and in July of 2014 his cancer was in remission. He was given another year to spend time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. On March 30, 2015, Pat found out the cancer had returned and was widespread. His great strength kept him with us for these last six weeks until his peaceful passing on May 19 with his "beautiful bride" by his side. Pat is survived by his wife Patty; daughter Amy (Ryan) Burns of Ely; four grandchildren Raelynne, Payton, Macey and Maddy Burns; siblings Bev (Bob) Sherlock of West Des Moines, Jeanne Martinson and Judy Albaugh both of Monticello and Mike Davidson of Farmington. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Kathy (Bob) Barta of Cedar Rapids, Becky (Alan) Crump of Rowley and Barb (Ethan) Hauck of Lee's Summit, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, mother and father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a nephew. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and the Hospice House for their loving care and support of Pat and his family.
