March 6, 1932 – May 3, 2026
Luella Gertrude Lorimer, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. There will be a rosary at 10:15 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Burial will take place in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family at this time.
Luella was born on March 6, 1932, in Newhall, the daughter of Alphonse and Elizabeth (Plotz) Schrader. She graduated school at Norway High School, class of 1950. Following that she moved to Cedar Rapids and began working at Collins Radio on the Apollo Spacecraft Project. After raising her children, she worked at Wilson Avenue Hy-Vee bakery for many years. Luella met John Lorimer at Danceland in Cedar Rapids, and were married December 30, 1953, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Norway. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, baking, cooking, and most of all spending time with her loving family.
Luella is survived by her children Mike (Cathy) Lorimer, Debbie (Ron) Bentley, Bill (Colleen) Lorimer, Sherri Lorimer and Jeff (Stephanie) Lorimer; her twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; her brother Harold (Joan) Schrader; sister-in-law Betty Schrader nee Tickal; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant son John Christopher Lorimer, and her siblings.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
