Luella "Lou" Ann Davis, 74 of Solon, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Brosh Chapel. Lou was born May 26, 1939 in George, the daughter of William and Minnie (Thiele) Mammenga. She graduated from Lakota High School. Lou married Norman Davis on January 11, 1957 in Lakota. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, watching birds, going fishing, traveling, bingo, and spending time with her family and many friends. Lou was a member of The Red Hats and Linus Quilting. Lou is survived by her husband Norm of over 57 years; children Denise (Jerry) Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Davis of Marion; three grandchildren Cassie, Cole and Olivia; great-granddaughter Ava; siblings Margaret Leask of Battle Creek, Michigan, Mickie (Doc) O'Connor of Ft. Dodge, Orval Mammenga of Arizona, and Helen (Jerry) Bierstedt of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog Scamp. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Peggy Ann, siblings Clara Garrett, John Mammenga, Frances Bandsma, Louis Mammenga, Levi Mammenga, William Mammenga, and William Mammenga Jr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
