Louise Caroline Werner Harrington, 87, of Solon died in the Solon Nursing Care Center on Friday, May 19, 2006 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Sunday, May 21, 2006, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006 at Noelridge Christian Church, 7111 C Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, followed by a 3:30 p.m. graveside service at Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville, MO and a reception/visitation at Kirksville Christian Church at 4:00 pm.
Mrs. Harrington was born December 20, 1918, in Edina, Missouri to Charles and Dena Hax Werner. On August 28, 1940, she married John Ragsdale Harrington in Edina, Missouri. He preceded her in death, May 24, 1969.
Mrs. Harrington graduated from Edina High School. She graduated from Kirksville State Teacher's College (now Truman State) with a teaching degree in home economics in 1940. She worked with her husband in Harrington's Jewelry in Kirksville until his death in 1969. Louise Harrington was a member of Kirksville Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, P.E.O., Mother's Home Club, and Monday Club. She loved reading, crocheting afghans for her family, and watching birds and sunsets. Her greatest joy was being a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Christine Flanagan and her husband Bob, of Columbia, MO; two sons, Charles Werner Harrington of Cedar Rapids, IA, Alan Craig Harrington and his wife Keela Herr of Solon; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Robert Flanagan and his wife Mindy of Indianapolis, Caleb John Flanagan of St. Louis, Shay McKenna Harrington of San Francisco, Taylor Ragsdale Harrington of Madison, Wisconsin, and Grayson Herr Harrington of Solon.
