Louellen Kadera Svec, 92, of Swisher, passed away on October 2, 2024, at the Solon Retirement Village. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids where Louellen has been a member for 70 years. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery in Swisher. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre will be assisting the family.

Louellen was born on December 2, 1931, in rural Oxford, the daughter of Harvey and Annie (Jindrich) Kadera. Louellen graduated from Oxford High School in 1950. On October 6, 1953, Louellen was united in marriage to Arnold Svec at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford.  Louellen worked at Collins Radio for three years and at the College Community School District in food service for twenty-four years and most recently worked at the Swisher Post Office for many years in housekeeping. She was a long-time member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, WFLA Lodge 400, and The National Catholic Society of Foresters. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, baking kolaches, and most of all she enjoyed her family and going to all the grandson's activities.

Louellen is survived by her two daughters Kathy (Stanley) Misbach of Marengo, and Penny (Kevin) Zacek of Swisher; a son Larry (Ginny) Svec of Swisher; five grandsons Michael Misbach, Matt (Heather) Svec and Carl (Felicia) Svec, Marcus (Kendra) Zacek and Tyler (Rachelle) Zacek; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jane Kadera and Virginia Svec; brother-in-law, Daryl Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews

Louellen is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of 53 years, Arnie (October 2, 2006), niece Julie Svec; sister Dorothy (John) Moynihan, brother Kenneth Kadera, brothers-in-law Vern Svec and Melvin Svec, sisters-in-law Jody Svec and Diane Gladwin,a nephew Bob Svec,  and mother and father-in-law Barbara and Louis Svec.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or to the Swisher American Legion in her name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Solon Retirement Village and Moments Hospice for their loving care of Louellen.
