Lonnie Everett Baker, 67 of Ely, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at the VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Lonnie was born September 18, 1940 in Postville, the son of Joseph and Alvira Amundson Baker.  He married Mary Stratton on June 21, 1969 in Rock Island, Illinois.  Lonnie served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1960 and was stationed in Germany.  He worked at Wilson (Farmstead) Foods for over 23 years until its closing; afterwards Lonnie worked for himself and helped many farmers in repairing farm buildings.  Lonnie enjoyed working on old farm tractors and equipment.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Mary; step-daughter Pamela Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; step-sons Dean (Julie) Miller of Marion, and Randal (Denise) Miller of Solon; five grandchildren Holli of Colorado Springs, CO, Nick and Amanda both of Marion, Jesse and Nathan both of Solon; 5 great grandchildren; and his brothers Justin "Skip" Baker of Clermont, Danny Baker of Boulder, CO, Warren Baker, and Cornel Baker both of Clermont and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in infancy.
