Lois M. Mackey, 86 of Ely, died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Hiawatha Care Center.   Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.   Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil.

Lois was born May 3, 1930 in Toddville, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Hamer) Miller.  She graduated from Toddville High School, Class of 1948, where she played basketball.  Lois was united in marriage to Robert R. Mackey Jr. on November 18, 1949 at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.  She worked at Mt. Mercy College and at College Community Schools for over 20 years until her retirement in 1992.   Lois enjoyed traveling, gambling, going to INDY races, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family.

Lois is survived by her children Terry (Jan) Mackey of Ely, Kathy (Bill) Osborn of Ely, Kevin Mackey of Palo, and Janice (Mark) Heathman of Swisher; ten grandchildren Amy, Billy, Tommy, Jennifer, Jeff, Gary, Crystal, Matt, Lindsy and Cody; twenty great-grandchildren; a brother Wilbur (Phyllis) Miller of Olin; brother-in-law Marvin Eberhard of Marion; sister-in-law Barbara Mackey of Ely; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, who died on September 17, 1994, an infant son Gary, two sisters Hazel Eberhard, Bernice (Bill) Wittenberg, and a brother-in-law Dick Mackey.
