Lois Irene Greene (Berning), 77, of Solon, IA passed peacefully on Friday, September 9th at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics due to complications of dementia.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years 364 days, Ray Greene; her children Troy (Shannon) Greene of North Liberty, IA; Jeff (Heather) Greene of Yutan, NE; Heather (Brad) McNeive of Geneva, IL; sister Patti (Jim) Wielebski of Platteville, WI; and brother John (Nancy) Berning of Hazel Green, WI.
Grandchildren Racheal, Amanda, Conner, Anna, Colby, Quin, KJ, Jessie, and Taylor. Great-grandkids Elena, Cayde, Eden, Kendly, and Adaline.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Irene Berning, and nephew Evan Berning
Lois was born in Dubuque, Iowa on July 28, 1945. The oldest of three children, she graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1963. She continued her education at Bayless Business College in Dubuque Iowa, graduating in 1964. After college, Lois found her soul mate and wed Ray Greene on September 10th, 1966.
Lois lived in the Solon community for the last 50 years, while running an in-home daycare and raising her own family. Lois enjoyed planting flowers, going out for ice cream, spending time with her family, and driving around with Ray.
The funeral mass will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 2:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, IA with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Timber Dome Lodge in Solon until 6 p.m. Please come with memories and stories to share of Lois. In honor of her love for flowers, please wear bright colors in her remembrance.
