Linda Cleona Sanborn, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with Pastor Ron Morrow presiding. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel. Linda was born February 25, 1948, in Postville, the daughter of Richard and Violet (Miller) Hangartner. Linda attended Cora B. Darling Elementary and Postville High School graduating in 1966. She moved from the family farm in 1967 to Cedar Rapids, where she resided until her death. She started her career with Collins/Rockwell in 1968 and remained employed there as a faithful employee for over 46 years. She married Ronald Sanborn on October 14, 1977. Linda loved to paint landscape portraits, sculpt, and collect jewelry. She also loved to travel the country and particularly enjoyed a trip to Graceland. Linda had a green thumb and grew many exotic plants over the years. She enjoyed reading books, listening to Elvis, traditional country and western music, as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda is survived by her husband, Ronald; three children Jason (Ida) Hangartner, David Sanborn (Tiphanie Vizecky) and Andrew (Michelle) Sanborn all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren Logan, Morgan, Ethan and Lucy Hangartner, and Pierce Sanborn; two sisters Peggy Hangartner of Postville and Julienne Wander of Clermont as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law James Wander. Memorials may be directed to the family.
