Lewis Cecil Mottinger Jr., 86 of Solon, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar Street. Burial will follow in Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, where full military rites be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Lewis "Lewy" was born 09/25/1928 the son of Celia Mae Mottinger/Camp and Lewis Cecil Mottinger Sr. in Cedar Rapids. Lewy graduated from Marion High School in 1946. In his yearbook he was described as a talented Athlete, Actor and "A ladies man too"! Immediately after high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps for 2-years, and then after a short time enlisted in the Air Force for an additional 2-years. After serving in the Armed Forces "Lewy" was known as a die-hard patriot throughout the remainder of his life. Lewy married Bonnie June Thompson from Marion and they had a daughter Juli Ann Mottinger and a son Chris Lewis (Dina) Mottinger. Lewis and Bonnie divorced and later Lewis married Anna Marie Ressler in 1969, and they had a son Eric Vernon (Leslie) Mottinger. Lewis was preceded in death by his father Lewis Cecil Mottinger, his stepfather Joseph Camp, his mother Celia Mae Mottinger Camp, his sister Geraldine Mottinger and his brothers Gilbert Camp and Frank Camp. He is survived by his brothers Dale (Nancy) Camp of Cedar Rapids, Dick Camp of Viola, and his sister Shirley (Rod) Thompson of Marion; grandchildren Sarah, Kristen, Jason, Sybil, Hallie, Jaynie and Rachel; great-grandchildren Wesley, Tate and Sophie; and sister-in-law, Diane Camp. Lewy worked at Wilson's Packinghouse for 38 years, and then in Security at ACT for an additional 20 years. He was a simple man who enjoyed working and was committed to whatever he participated in. Lewy loved working outdoors and enjoyed taking care of the yard and gardening. He also dearly loved all of his family and was always there when anybody needed assistance. He will forever be lovingly missed and remembered by all. Memorials may be directed donors choice of charity.
