June 13, 1930 – January 24, 2021
Lester Stuefen, 90, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in his home. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Private family interment with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Lester was born June 13, 1930, in Brookings, South Dakota, the son of Fred and Bessie (Youngmon) Stuefen. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Lester was united in marriage to Darlene Seltrecht on June 21, 1955, in Kahoka, Missouri. He worked as a truck service manager at Rapids Chevrolet, and later owned and operated Stuefen Construction for many years. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making homemade maple syrup, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Lester is survived by his wife Darlene; his daughter Kerri Stuefen (Tim Horn); his grandsons Chase and Logan Hannen; his sister Sis Turkington; his sisters-in-law Marlys Stuefen and Sandy Stuefen; his brother-in-law Earl (Pat) Seltrecht as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, his son Norman Stuefen, his brothers Robert, Pug and Don Stuefen, his brother-in-law Carl "Turk" Turkington, and his sister-in-law Betty Stuefen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
