Leslie Louise Rodemeyer, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, May 6, 2017, at Hospice of Mercy after a year-long battle with laryngeal cancer. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Brosh Chapel.
Leslie was born January 8, 1957, in Frankfurt Germany, daughter of Patricia (Shulista) and Robert Hahn. She attended Jefferson High School, Class of 1975. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Rodemeyer, on October 18, 1975.
She began working at Baker Shoe Store, later she moved into the banking and mortgage loan business where she met many lifelong friends, retiring in 2002. Leslie had a kind heart and giving soul. She always did more for others than she expected in return. She was a great listener and many will miss the treasured conversations. Leslie cherished time with family and friends and her grandchildren gave her so much joy. Over the years she enjoyed spending weekends on the boat at Coralville Lake, volunteering at the Moose Lodge, shopping and doing word searches.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 41 years, Mark; her daughter, Nicole (Chad) Slattery; her son, Blake (Ashley) Rodemeyer; her grandchildren, Austin and Keegan Slattery and Brynn and Harper Rodemeyer; a brother, Brad (Neila Barr) Hahn; two sisters, Lori (Gary) Skala and Lisa (Scott) Carlson; her father-in-law, Ron Rodemeyer; a sister-in-law, Rona (Bill Wyant); a brother-in-law, John Rodemeyer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Leona Rodemeyer; and her brother, Todd Hahn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
