Leonard Charles Mouchka, 89 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW, with Rev. Heather Hayes presiding. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Swisher American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Leonard was born August 2, 1919 in Robins, the son of John and Rose Bistricky Mouchka. He graduated from Shueyville High School. He married Georgina Castek on August 16, 1940. Leonard served in the United States Navy in World War II defending his country aboard the Destroyer USS Claxton. Upon returning Leonard began farming in Johnson County. In 1960, he purchased Stalker Electric in Cedar Rapids and owned it until purchased by his son and daughter in law 1995. During those years he also had taught school in rural Johnson County and worked during the sorghum run at Waconia Sorghum Mills. He was a charter member of the First Presbyterian Church near Ely. He was also a member of the Mt. Hermon Lodge, CR Scottish Rite, Elks, El Kahir Shrine, the Farm Bureau and the Swisher American Legion.
Leonard is survived by his sons, John (Zona) Mouchka of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Pam) Mouchka of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren Angie and Tracy; and four great grandchildren; as well as several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special friend Marie Manke of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter in law Connie Mouchka of Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Georgina on July 4, 1995; a son William Mouchka, and his grandson Scott Mouchka.

He will be remembered as a kind and fair man who loved his family.
