Leona Mary Westemeier, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her home.  Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with burial to follow in Shueyville Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Leona was born July 21, 1926 in rural Oxford, the daughter of William and Mary (Netolicky) Novak.  She married Raymond Westemeier on April 23, 1952 in Cedar Rapids.  Leona was in-home daycare provider for many families as well as a homemaker.  She enjoyed baking kolaches, making homemade noodles, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and most of all going to polka dances.

Leona is survived by her children Carol (Kevin) Walter of Oxford, Alvin (Pam) Westemeier of Coggon and Carl Westemeier of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Kris, Dan, Tiffany, Amber, Alex, Mark, Matt, Katelyn, Kendallyn and Karalyn; and ten great-grandchildren Angel, Caden, Emily, Jasmine, Brookelynne, Sadie, Jonah, Rowan, Cameron and Tyton; her sister Blanche Volesky of Cedar Rapids; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond, brothers Louis (Ulana) Novak, William (Irene) Novak, and a brother-in-law Lawrence Volesky.
