Leo F. Novak, 79 of Covington , died Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center . Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 12 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery . Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Full military rites will be conducted the Hanford American Legion Post 5. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Leo was born November 28, 1930 in Cedar Rapids , the son of Joseph and Agnes Novak. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1951. He married Iva "Ivy" Hlavac on June 14, 1950 in Iowa City . He worked for over 37 years for Kings Concrete as a truck driver until his retirement. Leo was a member of the Hanford American Legion.

Leo is survived by his wife Ivy, a son Gary (Sue) Novak of Lisbon, a daughter Diana Beck of Des Moines , a son Dr. Allan (Sheryl) Novak of Cedar Rapids and a son Joseph (Angela) Novak of Lowden; a brother Leonard Novak of Cedar Rapids , and ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard Novak, and a sister in law Betty Novak.

Memorials may be directed to the Hanford American Legion Post 5 in his name.
