Kenneth Charles Stastny, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Fr. Aaron Junge, presiding. Burial will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, where there will be military rites.
Kenneth was born on June 5, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Charles “Chuck” and Edna (Rotter) Stastny. He attended school at Jefferson High School, following he served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963. Ken was united in marriage to Diane Eckert on October 28, 1961, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He worked as diesel mechanic for over 43 years, retiring from Hawkeye International in 2012. He enjoyed rebuilding motors, attending car and truck shows, tinkering in the garage, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Diane; children Jim (Yvonne) Stastny, Dan (Stacy) Stastny, and Dawn Stastny; six grandchildren Andrew (Maddie) Stastny, Brianna Stastny, Abbi Stastny, Kaitlyn (Jesse) Alger and Isabella Stastny; three great-grandchildren Jaeda, Hudson and Easton; as well as his niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Jeffery, his sister Diane (Gary) Brown, father and mother-in-law Bruce and Vivian Eckert.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
